The 2025 Waukee Leadership Institute class partnered with the Waukee Community Schools Foundation to support an inclusive playground project at Maple Grove Elementary. The initiative was inspired by a real-life example at the school, where it became clear that although the playground met ADA standards, it did not provide meaningful access for students with limited mobility. This project aims to bridge the gap between accessibility and equity by adding inclusive equipment that allows all children to play and connect together.
